Shafie Ameermia joined ProBono.Org on 1 September 2023. He comes with a strong human rights focus, having served as a Commissioner on the SA Human Rights Commission from 2014 to 2021. He previously worked in the public service for the Limpopo Provincial Government and the Makhado municipality and was a founder of the Street Law project when he was studying at Wits University.

Elsabe has been involved with ProBono.Org since 2011. She volunteered at its Help Desk at Johannesburg Civil Regional Divorce Court (Aug. 2011 – Nov. 2018); consulted part-time on the South and East Rand project (Apr. 2013 – Aug. 2015), and became the part-time consultant for the OCAY (One-Child-a-Year) project (Jul. 2016 to date).

Given joined ProBono.Org as a Financial Administrator in November 2019 and was later promoted to Office Manager when the post became available. Given loves working with people and finds her job both challenging and enjoyable as she interacts with people from all walks of life.

Nkuli is ProBono.Org’s receptionist and administrator. She is the first person that clients see when they consult ProBono.Org. She does the initial screening and makes appointments with Pro.Bono.Org’s lawyers and staff.

Masi’s interest in social justice and effecting transformative change through the law prompted him to join the ProBono.Org team. He started his legal journey at the University of Stellenbosch where he was an active member of various human rights organisations. Thereafter, he completed his articles of clerkship and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2020. After being admitted, Masi has worked with various community advice offices, non-profit organisations, government institutions and law firms to enable access to justice for indigent and vulnerable people.

Busisiwe graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2021. She completed her articles at the Office of the State Attorney: Cape Town and was admitted as an attorney in 2023. Busi joined ProBono.Org in March 2024. She is committed to helping people who have suffered from great injustices and protecting the rights of vulnerable, marginalised groups.
